The guidance counselors are dedicated to the development of our students. It is the mission of Mercer Area School District's counseling program to facilitate each student's personal/social, academic, and career development and prepare them to live as productive members of society and help the students reach their future goals. The guidance program works in conjunction with other school personnel, programs and community resources.
Guidance counselors can assist students and families with the following: grades, study skills, peer tutoring, issues at school or home, PSSA and Keystone testing, scheduling, summer make-up options, graduation requirements, post-high school plans, college admission, financial aid, SAT or ACT testing.
Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The Student Assistance Program provides individual and/or group counseling to students as needed on non-academic issues. This program is not designed as treatment, but as a system to link those students with experts who can offer help. Requests for help may be made by school personnel, friends, parents, or the student themselves. Mrs. Allyson Rust is the SAP coordinator.
