Mrs. Amanda Simpson

Mrs. Amanda Simpson is in her third year as Assistant Principal at Mercer Middle/High School. She is also the coordinator of the Mercer Area Virtual Academy, a K-12 cyber program organized and managed by the Mercer Area School District. Previously, Mrs. Simpson taught special education at Jamestown High School for 7 years. She has also worked as a cyber teacher, an elementary special education teacher, and an instructional aide. Mrs. Simpson received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Slippery Rock University in 2007 and her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Principal Certification from Gannon University in 2014 and 2018, respectively. 

2021-2022 Goals

    • Continue to promote high standards for academic & developmental growth of students that are enrolled in the Mercer Area Virtual Academy throughout the 2021-2022 school year.
    • Continue to utilize our 1:1 technology to enhance the 21st century classroom and improve student achievement. By focusing on the effective integration of technology in and out of the classroom, our students will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to become responsible electronic citizens in a rapidly changing digital society.
    • Effectively incorporate the co-teaching model for math instruction to allow all students to be in the least restrictive environment and encourage collaboration among teachers to best meet the needs of all students.
