Mercer Area School District is a member of the District X of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). There are twelve total districts that comprise the PIAA. District X has schools competing from the following counties: Crawford, Erie, Forest, Mercer, Venango and Warren.

Students at Mercer Area High School have the opportunity to participate in the following PIAA approved sports and activities:

VARSITY
Fall - Boys soccer, golf, football, boys cross country, girls soccer, volleyball, girls cross country & cheer
Winter - Girls basketball, spirit, cheer (BB), boys basketball & wrestling
Spring - Boys track, baseball, girls track & softball

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Fall - Co-ed soccer, football, cross country, cheer & girls basketball
Winter - Boys basketball, wrestling & cheer
Spring - Girls volleyball, track, baseball & softball
