Keith Myers - Class of 1997

Keith Myers was a three-sport standout in Football, Wrestling, and Track & Field at Mercer High School.

Keith was a three-year letterwinner in football for head coach Frank Makarevich, playing nearly every down for all three seasons as a fullback, inside linebacker, and a member of special teams for the Mustangs. During his senior season, he led the team with 783 yards and 6 touchdowns on offense and added 118 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 sack on defense. A 2-time team captain, Keith was an all-Mercer County Athletic Conference (MCAC) selection during his sophomore, junior, & senior seasons. He also received the “Half Helmet” award winner as the team’s Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of both his junior and senior seasons. Following his senior year, Keith was selected to participate in the West Penn Football Coaches Association All-Star Game and was named to the “Heralded 22” all-star team by the Sharon Herald.

Keith began his wrestling career with his triplet brothers Kyle and Kevin in 2nd grade. He was a 3-time Junior Olympic State Champion with a dual match record of 102-2 for coaches Rick Whenry and Eric Mount. During his freshman season, Keith helped lead the Mustangs to an undefeated dual match record, securing both a Mercer County Athletic Conference (MCAC) Championship and the Section 2 team title. During his senior season, he led the team in wins (32), pins (18), team points (81), fastest pin of the season (10 seconds) and had the highest grade point average (3.88). During his four (4) year career with head coach Keith DeGraaf, Keith achieved an overall dual match record of 109-22 and was the first member of the varsity wrestling program to take 1st place at the Seneca Valley Invitational in 4 consecutive seasons. A 3-time team captain, he received all-MCAC honors all four (4) seasons, won two (2) Section 2-AA titles, was a 2-time District 10 place winner, and placed 4th at the Northwest Regional tournament during his senior season. He also was named to the Pennsylvania State Wrestling Coaches Association All-State team for outstanding achievement in academics and wrestling in 1994.

Joining the Boys’ Track & Field team during his senior year, Keith earned a varsity letter as a sprinter competing in the 400 meter dash. He helped lead the Mustangs to a undefeated dual meet record (10-0) and a second consecutive MCAC Division II Championship. He was also a member of the 4 × 100 meter relay team that qualified for the District 10 Championships for head coach Rev. Dr. F. Stanley Keehlwetter.

Upon graduation from high school, Keith continued his wrestling career at Slippery Rock University. He earned two (2) varsity letters until his career was cut short due to an in-match injury. Following his wrestling career, Keith began competing in Powersports weightlifting competitions sponsored by the Natural Athlete Strength Association (NASA). He set and currently holds Junior Division state records in Tennessee in the curl (148.8 lbs), bench (413.4 lbs), deadlift (429.9 lbs), and total weight (992 lbs). Additionally, he has won two (2) NASA Powersports National Championships, in 2002 & 2003.

Keith has coached athletes in football, wrestling, and strength training. He assisted the Mercer wrestling program while attending Slippery Rock University and served as a linebacker and strength coach at McMinn County High School in Tennessee from 2003-2005. Since 2004, Myers has been a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with a specialization in manual therapy, orthopedic fabrication, gate analysis, joint replacement, & sports medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Bryan College. Consulting for flooring manufacturer Mohawk Industries during 2015 & 2016, Keith developed programs for pre-employment health screening & employee physical wellness that were implemented by the company nationwide. He has earned numerous awards, being named Clinic Director of the Year in 2008 by Benchmark Physical Therapy, the nation’s 3rd largest physical therapy company, and PTA of the year by the Tennessee Physical Therapy Association in 2017. He has also been awarded several community service awards and recognitions for his continued efforts in multiple charities. Currently serving as the Vice President of Operations at Ivy Rehab Network, Keith and his wife, Amanda, reside in Berlin, Pennsylvania with their two (2) children, Maverick and Ava.

Alexis (Arkwright) Jacobs (class of 2014) 

Alexis (Arkwright) Jacobs was a two-sport standout in girls’ basketball and girls’ soccer during her four years at Mercer High School.

A four-year letterwinner and starter in girls’ basketball for coach Aaron Cook, Alexis finished her career with 1,315 points. This ranks her 3rd all-time in girls’ basketball history and 5th all-time in school history. She had a career average of 14.8 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, and 4.5 steals per game. 

During her junior year, Alexis led the team in scoring with 420 points (19.1 ppg) as the Lady M’s qualified for the District 10 playoffs and won their first playoff game since the 2000-2001 season. As a senior, she once again led the team in scoring with 420 points (16.8 ppg). The Lady M’s finished that campaign as District 10 Runner-Up and qualified for the PIAA State Tournament. Alexis was a

two-time first team All-Region selection (junior & senior year) and was the Region 1 Player of the Year following her senior campaign. She was also named the Reinhardt’s Insurance Athlete of the Month in January 2014 and received the Jerry Woods Award winner at the conclusion of her senior year.

Alexis was also a four-year starter and letterwinner of the Lady M’s soccer team. As a junior, she led the team in assists as the Lady M’s won the Region 1 title and were District 10 Runner-Up. The Lady M’s shared the region title and were once again District 10 Runner-Up during her senior season. She was a two-time first team All-Region selection following her junior and senior years.

After graduation, Alexis continued her basketball career at Grove City College. A four-year letterwinner for the Lady Wolverines, Alexis finished her career with 1,607 points. This ranks her

3rd all-time in school history. She established school records for three (3) point field goals made in a single season (66 total in 2017-18), steals in a single season (109 total in 2016-17), and career steals (331 total). Additionally, she currently ranks in the top five (5) in school history in career field goals (3rd all-time with 580 total), career three (3) point field goals (3rd all-time with 132 total), career free throws made (3rd all-time with 315 total), and career blocked shots (4th all-time with 116 total).

Alexis received President Athletic Conference (PAC) honors as Defensive Player of the Year and All-PAC First Team honors at the conclusion of both her junior and senior seasons. She was also named Grove City College Sportswoman of the Year following her senior year.

Alexis and her husband, Brad, currently live in Marienville where she works as a quality specialist for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

 

Logan Clarke (class of 2015)

Logan Clarke was a three-sport standout in football, boys’ basketball, and baseball at Mercer High School.

He was a four-year letterwinner in football for head coach Pat McClearn. A three-year starter at quarterback, Logan passed for 1,268 yards and 13 touchdowns during his sophomore year. As a junior, he led Mercer County with 2,487 passing yards and 27 TDs as the Mustangs finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the District 10 semifinals. During his senior campaign, Logan once again led the county with 2,423 passing yards and 25 TDs. For his career, he finished with 6,178 passing yards, which is 1st place all-time in Mercer High School football history and 3rd all-time in Mercer County history. He also had 65 career touchdown passes, good for 1st place all-time in school history and 2nd all-time in Mercer County history. He also accumulated 1,356 career rushing yards and 7 touchdowns for his career. He was a two-time first team All-Region selection as a quarterback (junior & senior seasons) and a first team All-Region defensive back during his senior year.  

Logan was a four-year letterwinner in boys’ basketball for head coach Doug Schmid. He scored 1,134 career points, good for 10th place all-time in boys’ basketball history and 14th place all-time in school history. He was also a two-time first team All-Region selection as a guard for the Mustangs and was the recipient of the Jerry Woods Award at the conclusion of his senior year.

He earned four varsity letters as a member of the baseball team and was a three-year starter at shortstop and in center field for head coach Jack Thorn. Logan was selected to the All-Region first team as an outfielder during his senior campaign.

Upon graduation from high school, Logan continued his football career at Gannon University, playing quarterback during his freshman year and wide receiver during his sophomore and junior seasons. He was a four-time Pennsylvania Scholastic Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar Athlete and a three-time NCAA Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award recipient. During college, Logan served as an Army ROTC Cadet for four (4) years.

Logan continued with a career as an officer and engineer in the military after graduating from Gannon University, serving stateside in Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, and North Carolina and overseas in Africa and the Middle East. 

Logan is the son of the late Tom Clarke and Julie Clarke. He has two siblings, Lucas and McKenzie. He and his wife, Morgan currently live in North Carolina.
