2025 - 2026 Scholarships
Below is a list of current scholarships available for Mercer High School Seniors. In addition, students can search for scholarships on the internet with scholarship search engines, check with your parents' employers, banks, member organizations and the financial aid website of the college or school you choose to attend.

The George W. Wright Student Aid Fund
Students needing financial assistance can apply for a $20,000 (recently increased!), INTEREST-FREE loan to help pay for college tuition, room and board. $2,500/semester x 8 semesters = $20,000
High School Applicants must:
•Rank in the upper half of their graduating class from a Mercer County Pennsylvania high school
•Be accepted for enrollment at a post-high school institution of higher learning
(Please note: Students not ranked in the upper half of their class may apply after two semesters of maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better in a post-high school institution of higher learning.)
The Edith and Gordon Livenspire Memorial Award
Deadline: May 1, 2025
This scholarship, in the amount of $1,000.00, is for a graduating senior who intends to pursue music as a profession and has been accepted by a college or an accredited professional school of music.
Coach Mac Scholarship
Deadline: April 15, 2026
The Frank Makarevich Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2022 by several Mercer High School Football Alumnus to acknowledge and support a football player(s) who represents the many values that Coach led by and instilled in his players and men.
RaiseMe
RaiseMe is a platform that helps 9-12th grade students prepare for college by earning scholarships for their achievements in high school. Over 250 colleges and universities have partnered with RaiseMe, and award micro-scholarships for both academic and extracurricular activities.

R.R. Wright Educational Fund distributed by BNY Wealth Management
Deadline: March 31, 2026
Mr. Richard R. Wright, a lifelong resident of Mercer County, created this scholarship to provide opportunities to students who wish to continue their education. Mr. Wright's foresight and planning for the future has helped many deserving students offset the costs of furthering their education.
VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program
Deadline:
All students in grades 9-12 can apply. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on the theme: “America: Where do we go from here?” More than $2 million in scholarships and incentives will be awarded.
The Elks National Foundation "Most Valuable Student" Scholarship
Deadline:
500 four-year scholarships, ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year or more, for graduating high school seniors based on financial need, leadership and scholarship. Other Elks scholarships are available on this website also.
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship
Deadline:
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholars are selected based on exceptional academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, service to others, and leadership. Winners receive up to $40,000 per year.
Burger King Scholars
Deadline:
The Burger King Scholars program was created in memory of Burger King co-founder James W. McLamore. Criteria includes academic achievements and participation in activities.
Equitable Excellence Scholarship
Deadline: Jan. 13, 2026
Equitable Excellence is looking for high school seniors who demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities.
GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Deadline: closed
The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program honors the legacy and character of our nation's 40th President by rewarding college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Through the generous support of GE, this national program annually awards $10,000 renewable scholarships to numerous students.
Hilcorp Future Leaders of America Scholarship Program
Deadline: March 31, 2026
This program will award one scholarships in the total amount of $10,000 to one college-bound senior from any of the following schools where Hilcorp operates: Mercer Middle/High School, Mohawk Jr/Sr High School, and Wilmington Area High School. http://www.ghcfscholar.org
Deadline:
$1,500 grants will be awarded to Pennsylvania high school seniors. The Pennsylvania JCI (Junior Chamber International) is an organization affiliated with the Pennsylvania Jaycees and the United States JCI Senate. They promote leadership training through community involvement and believe “that service to humanity is the best work of life.” State winners will be considered for national awards.
High School Heisman Scholarship
Deadline:
Eligibility begins with maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must participate or have participated in grades 9, 10, or 11 in at least one of the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Union Plus Scholarship
Deadline: January 31, 2026
Applicants must be current and retired members of participating unions, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations). See more details for eligibility by clicking on the link.
NSDAR (The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) Scholarships

The NSDAR offers several scholarships for graduating seniors who will attend a college or university after graduation.
PenSPRA Scholarship
Deadline: April 10, 2026
The Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association wants to encourage and promote the field of communications to public high school students through an educational scholarship for those interested in studying the field or related subjects (i.e. journalism, English, public relations, advertising, graphic arts, etc.). The candidate should have maintained a 3.0 GPA, and have been accepted to or applied at a two or four-year college, vocational-technical school, or other institution of higher learning. The award consists of two one-year scholarships worth $1000 each. Scholarships will be awarded to one public school student from each of PenSPRA's three regions (Eastern, Central and Western).
Timothy Reed McConnell Scholarship

Coolidge Scholarship for Juniors
Deadline:
This is a full-ride scholarship for four years of undergraduate study at any accredited U.S. college or university. Must be a high school JUNIOR planning to enroll in college in the fall of 2024 and is an American citizen. Selection is based on academic excellence, interest in public policy, an appreciation for and an understanding of the values President Coolidge championed, as well as humility and service.
Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award for Juniors

The Pennsylvania Society's Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award invites Pennsylvania public school juniors to submit an original essay discussing the modern-day relevance of a Benjamin Franklin quote. First through third places receives prizes of up to $6,000.
Fredonia Lions Club Scholarship
Two $1000 scholarships are available to Mercer High School seniors continuing their education in any field.

Buhl Regional Health Foundation Health Career Scholarship

Scholarships are available for high school seniors who are pursuing an R.N., bachelor's degree or higher in a health-related field.
Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH - MANY SCHOLARSHIPS

Funds through the community foundation currently offer more than 200 scholarships throughout our region. Most donors desire to help graduating high school seniors who will be continuing their education at the post-secondary level. Application period begins on January 1, 2026. The Lois Macaluso Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of the Lois Macaluso Foundation Scholarship is to provide educational opportunities to students pursuing an education in Healthcare (i.e. nursing, physical therapists, recreational therapists, occupational therapists, physician assistants, doctors and dentists. Students will be selected by the Lois Macaluso Foundation Scholarship Advisory Committee. Students will be considered on the basis of character, need, scholastic ability and demonstrated interest in health care professions.
Scholarship Requirements:Student must be a resident of Mercer or Lawrence County, Pennsylvania and be pursuing a degree in the healthcare field.
